Papeete, Tahiti Jan 29th

So, we thought we were leaving Tahiti. We went to Papeete for the night so we could catch our early morning flight, 5:00 am. Tom refused to get a cab from the hotel we stayed in to the airport (it was right across the street) but we had to walk down this long, very steep hill with all the luggage. We get there all happy to be going to New Zealand, hand the lady our passports and she innocently asks, "you're going to Tokyo?". We replied, no, New Zealand and she proceeded to ask for our itineraries and asked us to go with her to the "Tahiti Nui" office. That is where they explained to us there is no such flight as the one we were booked on and the fun really began.......The next flight to New Zealand was Thursday or Sunday and it was only Tuesday. Otherwise, they would be able to get us on a 2:00 am Wed. morning flight to Sydney, Australia connecting to Wellington that afternoon. But they needed to get in touch with American Airlines to book it because it was their mistake. In the meanwhile, they told us to go have breakfast at the restaurant and come back in 2 hours..unfortunately, it was closed. It's all good! When we went back to the office they sent us to the city branch to re-book our tickets. No good there either. But, it's all still good! While they were trying to straighten this out they sent us to the Intercontinental Beachcomber Hotel (5*) on the water in Papeete.

All we needed was some 30 block and AMF.

Just rolled with the punches and ended up having an awesome day. Tahiti Nui called and told us we were on the 2:00 am flight. We finished our bottle of wine with a late dinner (thanks Tahiti Nui), grabbed a cab, and off we went.

Mauruuru and NaNa Tahiti (thank you and goodbye Tahiti).......... hopefully!
